Levitra action mechanism:

Vardenafil is a erectile dysfunction preparation that belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. Erection represents a hemodynamic process based on relaxation of smooth muscle in the cavernous body of the penis. During sexual stimulation nitrogen oxide is released and activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase leading to accumulation of cGMP in the cavernous tissue. Finally it leads to relaxation of smooth muscles and increasing blood flow to the penis. Vardenafil blocks PDE5 that is necessarily for inactivating cyclic GMP. Accumulation of cyclic GMP allows to achieve erection sufficient for sexual intercourse.

Levitra clinical indications:

Levitra is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men over 18 years of age. Erectile dysfunction is defined as inability to achieve and maintain erection satisfactory for sexual intercourse.

Levitra caution, precaution and warnings!

The medication must not be used in the following conditions:

• Hypersensitivity to vardenafil or other components of the medication
• Women
• Children and adolescents under 18 years of age
• Severe liver diseases including intoxication, cirrhosis, hepatitis
• Severe kidney diseases including pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis
• Prolonged QT interval
• Severe cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, arrhythmia within the past six months, high blood pressure, low blood pressure
• Retinitis pigmentosa
• Priapism

The medication should be used with caution if any of the following conditions apply to you:

• Sickle cell anemia
• Predisposition to hemorrhages
• Anatomical deformation of the penis (angulation, Peyronie's disease, or cavernosal fibrosis)
• History of priapism
• A history of severe vision loss (including a condition called NAION).
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• Multiply myeloma
• Leukemia
